Dr. Lefan (Frank) Gong is qualified in both the PRC and New York State, and of his 25 years of private practice, he spent the early several years with a Wall Street law firm in New York City and then a major international law firm in Shanghai, before joined Zhong Lun as a partner. He advises clients on cross-border matters including M&A, VC and PE financing, dispute resolutions, outbound investment, tax and wealth planning.
Dr. Gong for many consecutive years has been recommended by Chambers, Legal 500, IFLR, etc. as leading lawyer in the PRC. Among others, he is recognized by IFLR1000 as Leading Lawyer of the Year for 2023 for Finance and Corporate Law in Shanghai, M&A Lawyer of the Year 2021 by IFLR, Top 10 Legal Influencers in China (2018), “Great Author Award” by CITIC Press 2016.
In addition to being a law practitioner, Dr. Gong also acts as strategic advisor for companies and founders on M&A, growth strategies and fundraising presentations. He is also a frequent writer and speaker on cross-border transactions, assets recovery, and wealth & tax planning. Dr. Gong is also an adjunct professor of ECUPL and advisor of CIEBS.
He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School with LL.M. and S.J.D. He also took executive classes in Oxford Saïd Business School, Harvard Business School and Babson College.
